My favorite books have characters that have become my friends for life. Thoughtful poet Vicky Austin is one such character. As she spends the summer with her ailing grandfather, Vicky discovers an ability to communicate with dolphins that frequent the island. A summer of first love, finding who she is, and asking hard questions about life and death, she uses poetry to understand her place.
