On Wednesdays, the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association Bestseller List is published. Every week, we love to see what books have been most popular in independent bookstores around our region. As we peruse the list, we look for something special to showcase. Then we present this weekly feature: Thursday Themes.
When we read the titles, we heard a lot of long a sounds with several at the end of the titles, almost like song lyrics. Do you hear the words in your head when you read silently?
All We Say (The Battle for American Identity) Ben Rhodes (#10 Hardcover nonfiction)
Platform Decay Martha Wells (#8 Hardcover fiction)
The Brothers McKay Craig Johnson (#10 Hardcover fiction)
The Things We Never Say Elizabeth Strout (#12 Hardcover fiction)
If you’re willing to be a little loose in your pronunciation (pretend you’re a pop singer!), these titles might rhyme, too:
Jamberry (“Jam-beret“) Bruce Degen (#5 Children’s illustrated)
The Serviceberry (“The Service-beret”) Robin Wall Kimmerer, John Burgoyne (Illus.) (#3 Hardcover nonfiction)
