Last week, Green Bean Books’ bookseller and all-around independent bookstore champion Earl Dizon visited Portland’s BOLD Coffee & Books during their soft opening. He shared his photos and enthusiasm on Instagram. Enjoy a peek at BOLD through Earl’s lens. Photos by Earl Dizon.

Don’t you love the throw pillow? Homey touches like the pillows and houseplants make the bright space cozy and inviting. We also think we spy co-owner Ali Shaw’s book about publishing, “Write Book (Check). Now What?: Publishing Need-to-Knows for New Authors.”

Their kids’ and YA shelf reflects BOLD’s love of and dedication to diverse books. It’s nifty how the books for younger readers are lower, and YA is at the top– this shelf of books grows with the reader.

Once again, BOLD’s pillow game is strong! The cozy seating in the cafe area is also giving us some “Friends” Central Perk vibes in the best ways.

BOLD’s cafe has a large selection of espresso drinks and more. Treat yourself to a big cup of deliciousness.

There is table seating for the cafe, too– a perfect place to enjoy a few pastries with your coffee or tea while you dream about what to add to your TBR.

The store is located at 1755 SW Jefferson St, Portland, OR. It opens at 7 am every morning!

The store is jumping in with events, but most importantly, their Grand Opening will be October 18-20.
Thank you, Earl, for sharing your photos and first impressions of this great new spot for book lovers and coffee lovers. Thanks to all the 127 backers who contributed to BOLD’s Kickstarter campaign to help get the shop off to a running start. Congratulations to Ali and Tim Shaw, store owners, and the team behind BOLD Coffee & Books!
