Wednesday night a delighted crowd gathered at Book Larder in Seattle to celebrate Renee Erikson and the incredible team behind the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association (PNBA) Book Award-winning cookbook, A Boat, a Whale, & a Walrus.
The bookstore’s Culinary Director, Kyle Wisner, served up delicious nibbles from the book including pâté and crostini.
Lara Hamilton, owner of Book Larder, spoke about the book’s appeal and its great success for her store and other independent bookstores.
Gary Luke, President and Publisher of Sasquatch Books (the book’s publisher), congratulated and thanked everyone who worked on the book including Renee Erickson, her coauthor Jess Thompson, photographer Jim Henkens, editor Susan Roxborough, sales executive Sarah Hanson, and publicist Haley Stocking. He was also very appreciative of the booksellers and readers whose love for the book made it not just an award-winner but also a bestseller.
Tegan Tigani, president of PNBA, presented the award on behalf of the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association.
Renee and Jess shared some stories behind the book along with their joy and gratitude.
Thank you to the bookseller judges for the PNBA Awards Committee, Renee and Jess, Lara and the crew at Book Larder, the Sasquatch team, friends and family, and all the booksellers who made this such a special evening.
