I’m currently reading The Book Thief – five years after I got an an advanced readers copy from Random House. It still has a card tucked inside asking me to give them feedback. Judging by all the awards and accolades, it did fine without me.
The book is narrated by Death, an interesting idea, and is set in Nazi Germany. Depending on the country, it has been published as a YA or an adult book. I think it’s a book that might appeal more to adults, but hey, I’m the one who let it sit on a shelf for five years.
April, same story here–I’ve had Book Thief in my to read pile for several years now. Friends have raved about it but I’ve just never taken the jump. It’s strange because I fell hard for Zusak’s first novel “I Am the Messenger.” But yours was the nudge I needed–I’ll be packing it to the beach with me this weekend. Thanks.
