Our friends at Sasquatch Books in Seattle are promoting a wonderfully cute new alphabet book called Have You Ever Seen a Smack of Jellyfish with a contest. The challenge is to guess the words that describe a group of these animals: butterflies, owls, rhinoceroses, and zebras. A “smack of jellyfish” is obvious—it’s in the title; so just imagine what the others might be! They give you one: “a string of ponies,” which is totally baffling to me. Just playing the game is a real hoot, though. Highly recommended. I want the t-shirt.
Congratulations to the author, Sarah Asper-Smith, who created the book after discovering that a group of ferrets is called a “business.” Asper-Smith plans to return home to Alaska later this year, after spending several years in Philadelphia attending graduate school.
