With eight poetry collections to his credit, fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and National Endowment for the Arts, multiple Pushcart prizes and countless other honors and awards, Robert Wrigley has clearly produced a lot of exceptional poetry in his 30-plus-year career. So what propelled him to write what Fogged Clarity arts review firmly declared “…an achievement for Wrigley. A gift for the rest of us.”? In this Pacific Northwest Inlander interview, Wrigley answers that question with a nod to a 2007 trip he took to Italy with his wife, fellow writer, Kim Barnes.
Wrigley will read from Beautiful Country tonight at Spokane’s Auntie’s Bookstore and Dec. 10 at Seattle’s Open Books: A Poem Emporium.
