What you are about to see is a BOOK TRAILER for My Teenage Werewolf. Book trailers – like film trailers but, you know, for books – are the newest thing in web-based promotion. Oh, I said the P word. Authors are not supposed to say the P word. We are restricted to the C word (creativity) or the A word. (No, not that A word, the other one: art.)
So begins the entry–the written piece on the My Teenage Werewolf book blog and the entry into new “P” territory–for Lauren Kessler. Kessler has written enough books (Stubborn Twig, Dancing with Rose: Finding Life in the Land of Alzheimer’s, Clever Girl, The Happy Bottom Riding Club) to have been honored (2009 state sesquicentennial Oregon Reads selection), awarded (’94 Oregon Book Award, ’08 Pacific Northwest Book Award), and scheduled for every kind of promotional appearance imaginable (David Letterman briefly took on Oprah by selecting The Happy Bottom Riding Club as the first [and only] book for the Dave Letterman Book Club). But never a book trailer. Hey, these days, everybody’s doing it.
Ignore that, Lizzie.
