The Tacoma Weekly has a nice update on King’s Books, which will officially change hands in the next few weeks. The new owner, long-time employee sweet pea Flaherty, in addition to having one of the best names in the book biz, has already instituted some changes, including revamping its customer loyalty program, Vehement Vassals. Flaherty says the program has helped the store stay afloat during the economic downturn, giving supporters more ways to help the store than buying books. Flaherty has also added a couple of programs that increase the store’s visibility in the community— a Books for Schools program and a buy local program.
