Fishtrap, a non-profit dedicated to “promot[ing] clear thinking and good writing in and about the West,” is hosting a fundraiser on Saturday March 15 in Portland to support its programs for writers, such as its annual Summer Gathering.
The fundraiser’s theme is “Fishtrap Sampler.” Hear “literary bites” from Brian Doyle, Teresa Jordan, Robin Cody, Kim Stafford, and the amazing young poet, Guthrie Stafford. Culinary bites include truffles from Arrowhead Chocolates, cheesecake from Wallowa County chef, Lynne Curry, Riesling wine from Brooks Winery, and much more. The evening also features musicians Marv and Rindy Ross.
Sticking with the “bite-sized” theme of the evening, there will be a short but lively auction of just a few great items, and one super raffle item to raise money for the Fishtrap programs.
- Win a 10 day stay in a casita in Mexico! If you buy the winning $50 raffle ticket, you could wake up to this sunrise view from the casita patio! We are selling only 60 tickets so your chances of winning are good. Raffle tickets are available online while supplies last. You do not need to be present to win.
- A spot on a three day river rafting trip on the Grande Ronde River with Winding Waters Rivers Expeditions and author & river guide, Vince Welch. Each night Welch, co-author of The Doing of the Thing – The Brief, Brilliant Whitewater Career of Buzz Holmstrom, will recount aspects of Holmstrom’s life and his epic voyage through the Grand Canyon. This will be a live auction item – come ready to bid!
Tickets to the Fishtrap Sampler are $25 in advance, $30 at the door. More details about Fishtrap’s programs and this event are available at fishtrap.org.
