Last weekend, two Washington bookstores celebrated birthdays: Queen Anne Book Company in Seattle celebrated its first birthday, and A Book For All Seasons in Leavenworth celebrated its 22nd. Congratulations!

Queen Anne Book Company in Seattle was festooned with Dutch birthday streamers, thanks to owners Judy and Krijn de Jonge.
- Queen Anne’s co-owners Judy and Krijn de Jonge and Janis Segress, together with all the staff, signed a Thank You card for the customers to display at the front desk.
A Book for All Seasons in Leavenworth celebrated with loads of events, both at the local library and in the store. As they said on their website,
Naturally, we’re celebrating with great food and fabulous authors! Award-winning Carol Cassella offers an early release of her brand-new novel Gemini. Gregory Nokes‘ latest history, Breaking Chains was just chosen as a PNW Top Ten Book. Karen Spears Zacharias shares her sixth book, but first novel, journeying back to her Appalachian roots with Mother of Rain.
CONGRATULATIONS! And thank you to all the booklovers who shop at independent bookstores, so we can have more birthdays to look forward to.
