Every Wednesday, the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association publishes the regional bestseller list. On Thursdays, we celebrate Thursday Themes to shine a spotlight on some of the books from the list and give our brains a different way of thinking about books.
Maybe it’s that I just read an early copy of an upcoming “Dirty Dancing”-inspired YA novel by Jasmine Guillory, but I noticed that some of our bestsellers this week have “Baby” in the title. I looked closer, and they’re both by Stephan Lomp. I realized that they are regional bestsellers but not national bestsellers. “Is Stephan Lomp a local PNW author?” I asked myself. Hmm– no, he lives in Dusseldorf, Germany. These delightful Indestructibles books aren’t new. Does anyone know why they hit the bestseller list this week? Are some stores using them as part of an early literacy program?
