Local author Gabriel Urza
in conversation with Sierra Crane Murdoch
Thursday, Nov. 6th, 6pm
at the Hood River Library
In Silver State, Urza—a writer, criminal defense attorney, and professor—crafts a haunting and thought-provoking legal thriller that redefines the genre. When a public defender receives a letter from a client on death row, he’s forced to reexamine his role in a murder case that has haunted him for years. As the past resurfaces, Silver State explores the blurred lines between guilt and innocence, justice and failure, love and loss.
Gabriel Urza is a writer, attorney, and professor from Reno, Nevada, now based in Hood River, Oregon. He teaches fiction in the MFA program at Portland State University and is the author of the novel All That Followed and the story collection The White Death: An Illusion.
Sierra Crane Murdoch is the author of Yellow Bird, a Pulitzer Prize finalist and Oregon Book Award winner, which traces the true story of a woman’s quest for justice on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation. Murdoch’s reporting has appeared in Harper’s, This American Life, The Atlantic, and The New Yorker.
