On Wednesdays, the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association Bestseller List is published. Every week, we love to see what books have been most popular in independent bookstores around our region. As we peruse the list, we ponder patterns. Then we present this weekly feature: Thursday Themes.
One of the squares on the Seattle Summer Book Bingo card for kids is “Author also writes books for adults.” This week, we have some crossover authors who write for kids or teens and adults represented on our bestseller list.
Who is an author you’d love to see write for audiences of a different age? (This title pairing of a bestseller from the adult list and sleeper from the picture book shelf had us giggling.)
Not Quite Dead Yet Holly Jackson (#7 Hardcover fiction; also writes for teens)
The Enchanted Greenhouse Sarah Beth Durst (#8 Hardcover fiction; also writes for middle grade; see her age-spanning oeuvre here)
The Serviceberry Robin Wall Kimmerer (#1 Hardcover nonfiction; also has an upcoming picture book)
Everything Is Tuberculosis John Green (#3 Hardcover nonfiction; also writes for teens— and this week’s bestseller, which appears on the adult list, was first cataloged by Penguin Random House Kids)
A Court of Thorns and Roses Sarah J. Maas (#11 Paperback fiction; her first series was originally published for teens)
The Eyes and the Impossible Dave Eggers (#9 Early & Middle readers; also writes for adults and younger children)
Five Survive Holly Jackson (#9 Young adult; also writes for adults now, as shown by #7 on the adult Hardcover fiction list)
