This is my all-time favorite graphic novel– it’s the perfect blend of funny, heartfelt, and subversive. I cannot recommend it enough. If you haven’t read it, you’re in for a treat!

Last week, during Portland Book Week, booksellers, authors, illustrators, and publishing folk from around the country gathered in Portland for the American Booksellers Association Children’s Institute, an annual education conference held in different cities around the country. Some attendees were able to do organized bus tours of a select itinerary of independent bookstores, and author and illustrator N. D. Stevenson, the creator of Nimona, was a speaker.
