If you read our newsletter, you know I adored Bertino’s absolutely bonkers previous novel Parakeet. Well, I loved this one more. Adina, born in the late 1970s, learns at a young age that she is an alien sent to observe human life (she reports to her home planet via fax). Her observations are both witty and heart-wrenching. This book is a lovely rumination on humanity, loneliness, and belonging.
