A single drop of blood on a sheet of paper was the first sign. Soon, blood was gushing and her body wracked with pain. Nine year old Aubrey was rushed to the family doctor. but the time she arrived there, all was fine. Returning home, the sickness all began again. Aubrey had to leave the family home, and then Paris, and farther on, a world traveler, and careful never to repeat a stop. Some folk she met tried to help, some to cure, some to imprison. A Short Walk Through A Wide World is a delightful debut novel. Hard to put down and intriguing in so many ways.
