On Wednesdays, the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association Bestseller list is published. Every week, we love to see what books have been most popular in independent bookstores around our region. As we peruse the list, we ponder patterns. Then we present this weekly feature: Thursday Themes.
Looking at the one-word titles on this week’s list, we noticed that three were on previous one-word bestseller lists: one in October 2021 (Hatchet) and another two in September 2022 (Babel and Horse). We’re only qualifying true one-word titles this time– no articles! (But punctuation is allowed.)
One-word titles can be the start of a wonderful relationship with an author’s many words. Which is the first you would pick up on your next trip to a local, independent bookstore?
