Every Wednesday, the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association publishes the regional bestseller list. On Thursdays, we celebrate Thursday Themes to shine a spotlight on some of the books from the list and give our brains a different way of thinking about books.
This week, as blizzards and other wintry weather take over more of our region, this book stood out:
What You Need to Be Warm Neil Gaiman, Yuliya Gwilym (Illus.), et al. (#4 Children’s Illustrated)
This is a moving poem inspired by the ongoing refugee crises and memories shared by fans, illustrated by thirteen different artists. Gaiman is a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN’s High Commission on Refugees (UNHCR). All author, illustrator, and agent royalties from this book are donated to the UNHCR. What You Need to Be Warm is a regional indie bestseller, but it’s not on the national list this week. Kudos to the booklovers of the Pacific Northwest for caring globally while they shop locally.
