From Paulina Springs Books in Sisters, OR:
Hi All,
We’re trying out something new this holiday season, and we hope you’ll join us! Since hearing about it a few years back, we’ve been big fans of the Icelandic tradition of Jolabokaflod – and we’ve been looking for a good excuse to gather with our community here at the shop, so we figured we’d take a shot at our own version of a Book Flood on the evening of Tuesday, Dec 20th at 6:00 pm. […] We hope you’ll come gather, drink cocoa, and chat books with us!
Happy Reading,
Lane
- Pick out one of your favorite paperback books that you’ll be exchanging for the Book Flood.
- On the evening of the exchange, be prepared to write a few sentences about the book and why you love it.
Used, new, fiction, non-fiction, a classic or a recent release – doesn’t matter as long as it’s a book that you’re excited to put into someone else’s hands! If you need to order a book for the exchange, you’ll get 10% off on any book that you order from PSB, but order soon so it’s here in time!
Try to pick out a book that you feel passionate about but that will also have some sort of broad appeal. Specific, but not too specific!
How it works:
- We’ll open the evening at 6pm with some brief readings and reflections on the changing season.
- Notecards will be passed out so that everyone can write their own recommend or ‘blurb’ for the book that they brought to the exchange.
- All books and notecards will be collected and arranged on a table.
- Everyone will have an opportunity to browse the books and pick out one that speaks to them.
- If someone else snags a book that you were excited about, don’t worry! You can order any book that was featured in the exchange for 20% off!
