A new space, community rooms, gifts and a holiday market, readings and author visits, and, of course, lots of new books — Gresham readers of all ages rejoice as a popular bookstore is expanding to the other side of downtown.
Maggie Mae’s Kids Bookshop will take over the former north end of the Glass Butterfly, 50 N.W. First St. The move from the current store, 43 N.W. Third St., represents more than a tripling in size.
“We are moving so we can continue to grow and become Gresham’s top spot for books and gifts,” said owner [Shoshonna] “Sho” Roberts.
The relocation makes for an increase from 800 square feet to 3,000 square feet. The plan is to expand the young adult and teen book selections, as well as the gift and toys available. Maggie Mae’s plans on holding larger events, and renting out an event space to the community.
“It is only two blocks from our current space, therefore it will be easy for our customers to continue supporting us and the other downtown shops they love,” Roberts said.
