Do you remember early this year when a transportation disaster delayed two highly-anticipated cookbooks?
In January of 2022, the pandemic world and its supply chain disruption woes reached a point of absurdity when the print copies of Melissa Clark’s Dinner in One and Mason Hereford’s Turkey and the Wolf had been en route from the printers to the publisher, distributors, bookstores, and eventually eager readers. But a container ship lost cargo overboard, including these books. (You can read reporting from The Guardian and People magazine about the accident.
We’re very happy to report that bookstores have copies of both books as of today! Turkey and the Wolf made it safely to shelves across the country in June, and now Clark’s Dinner in One will have folks enjoying cooler temps with cozy and delicious one-pot meals.
Happy cooking, everyone! Also, let us realize that this could still happen to reprints of books we think we’ll grab “next time” we’re in the bookstore, so why not buy books while the impulse is fresh and there is inventory in stock? You can even get them wrapped for the holidays now. (Just make sure you put a note on them so you remember what’s inside and who you thought you’d give it to.)
(Don’t worry– your new books will be beautiful, not waterlogged or fish-kissed. The books that sank were not recovered; these are brand new printings.)
