Rediscovered Books of Boise and Caldwell, ID made a big splash when they captured a feathered browser on video and posted to social media.

In the video, a duck saunters casually through the store, and the person filming asks, “Where are you going?” The duck replies with some conversational quacking. Among the books the duck seems to consider is Kitties on Dinosaurs, a hilarious picture book (conveniently displayed at duck eye level). Here’s hoping the duck bought something– maybe it even preordered the next kitties and dinos book, Dinosaurs on Kitty Island, which will be released October 19, 2021.
Responses to the original post came from bookstores from all over the country (including Friendly City Books in Columbus, MS, Raven Bookstore in Lawrence, KS, and East City Bookshop in Washington, DC) as well as one in London (Sotheran’s).
The delightful video caught the eye of author, journalist, 2020 Independent Bookstore Ambassador, and twitter celebrity Dan Rather.
We can all benefit from ducking into a local bookstore more often. https://t.co/381ZPfgKse

One of Rediscovered Books’s website’s banners includes Dan Rather’s What Unites Us— proof that the admiration is mutual.
