Green Bean Books of Portland expressed what a lot of us are feeling after the passing of beloved Oregon author Beverly Cleary:
It is with both sadness and immense gratitude that we reflect on the incredible life of children’s author, Beverly Cleary. So beloved by so many, she brought us a treasure trove of children’s books that we will continue to cherish. We especially love the lesson that she taught us – If you don’t see yourself in the books you find on shelves, write your own. We are so honored that she has a special Portland connection with us too. Have you seen her character’s statues in Grant Park?
When I was a child, my favorite Beverly Cleary books were in her The Mouse and the Motorcycle series. I just loved following the adventures of Ralph, the talking mouse, riding his miniature motorcycle with that ping pong ball helmet!
What were some of your favorite Beverly Cleary books?
