September 2020, Eagle Harbor Book Company of Bainbridge Island, WA celebrates its 50th birthday. Below is a message to their customers and neighbors from their newsletter.
It’s been a challenging year and we think it’s time to turn things around. Your home-town bookstore turns 50 years old this month and we’re ready to celebrate with you! It’s been our profound privilege to serve you all these years. Together we’ve made it through recessions, street demolitions, the rise of Amazon and then e-books, and now a pandemic! Through it all you have stayed with us, as an investment in your own community. For as Neil Gaiman so wisely put it, “What I say is, a town isn’t a town without a bookstore. It may call itself a town, but unless it’s got a bookstore, it knows it’s not foolin’ a soul.”
We’re pulling out the scrapbook and we need your help. Come in and share your memories, or create new memories together. Watch our social media and visit often to claim prizes and discounts all month long. It’s a grand celebration of community and books and all that makes Bainbridge Island special.
