Over the course of the next several months, Powell’s Books will be working to support the fundraising efforts of a variety of local community organizations focused on providing essential, frontline services. Each partner organization will be offering one lucky donor the chance to win an exclusive private shopping spree in Powell’s flagship store.
As Powell’s has learned from its extremely engaged and loving customers, there really is no experience comparable to shopping at Powell’s flagship store. Since the temporary store closures in mid-March, Powell’s customers and fans have shared enthusiastic replies on social media about what they would do if they were able to have the flagship store all to themselves. The company understands that the chance to have a private, personal shopping experience in Powell’s City of Books is a coveted idea, and one that can be leveraged to help the broader Portland community.
In response, Powell’s is providing the chance to have a once-in-a-lifetime private shopping spree in the flagship store as a prize that its nonprofit partners can offer to donors to encourage support. Each nonprofit organization will establish its own program and rules for entry, and details will be shared on Powells.com and on Powell’s social media. Each shopping spree package includes a $200 Powell’s gift card and two hours of exclusive customer access to the otherwise closed store for one lucky winner.
The first contest began in May with the announcement of Powell’s first community partner, Street Books. The current community partner is the Cascade AIDS Project; the winner from this partnership will be drawn on July 11, 2020 during the CAP Art Auction live stream at 7:45 p.m.
