This or That? What Will You Choose at the British Museum? by Pippa Goodhart
Books take us places when we are staying home and This or That? is an up close, engaging and interactive trip to the British Museum. Flush with color and detail, you really can’t get any closer to the real thing right now!
If you crave some virtual museum tours, you can explore the British Museum’s website, and this article has links to museums like the Guggenheim in NY and the Musée d’Orsay in Paris.
Kate the Chemist: The Big Book of Experiments by Kate Biberdorf
Kate the Chemist arrived in the midst of Covid19 Homeschool and it looks like we can do at least half of the experiments with things we have on hand. I see our kitchen being transformed into a science lab for weeks to come with gratitude!
How about some science games online from PBS Kids to help add some education to the kids’ gaming distractions? Don’t miss PNW publisher Innovation Press’s great educational resources to go along with its titles.
Don’t let the board book format fool you; this how I want to learn new languages going forward. It is kinesthetic dream come true. Spin the wheel and 20 new words in 20 languages are instinctually understood alongside the charismatic baby.
For some inspiration if you’re learning ASL, enjoy this compilation of “The Best Songs in Sign Language.” Maybe explore some songs and rhymes from different languages and cultures?
The timing for this book could not be more perfect. My copy just arrived and even my teenagers are eyeing it! I feel like this book is clearly the best gift we can give to pandemic homeschooling families now and obviously a super awesome gift year round!
How about an international round-up of Where’s Waldo/ Where’s Wally memes and socially distanced cityscapes to amuse you?
Please share some of your favorite books your independent bookstore helped you find. Other folks home with kids in need of distraction will appreciate your tips!
