Out of an abundance of caution and concern for everyone, this year’s Seattle Independent Bookstore Day, originally scheduled for April 25, has been postponed. August 29, 2020, a Saturday, is the tentative new date.
Visit our SIBD web page seattlebookstoreday.org. It lists all of the bookstores involved in this year’s event. Many, if not most, are offering ongoing services to readers, so we encourage you to get in touch with stores in your area. You may also want to visit American Booksellers Association at bookweb.org and indiebookstoreday.com for any national developments. As you know, SIBD, as it’s called locally, continues to grow, attracting hundreds of visitors to the participating bookstores in the Seattle area and offering a range of activities from in-store parties and giveaways to author appearances and the now-famous bookstore challenges.
Independent Bookstore Day began in 2014 in California. By last year, nearly 600 stores participated nationally.
