Love to read? Having trouble reading? Try reading with a friend! Head to Third Place Books’s Ravenna location on Sunday, September 29th at 11am for a special visit from canine (and human) friends from the Puget Sound regional nonprofit Reading With Rover.
This is a trial run with what Third Place Books hopes will become a regular visit from Reading with Rover’s reading therapy dogs. Therapy dogs will be at the store to listen to children read aloud, building their confidence in a safe environment. (Dogs don’t judge!) It’s also a gentle venue for children with some fear of dogs as it creates a positive experience for kids and dogs.
Readers and their grown-ups are reminded: Please do not bring your own dog to the event, because it would be disruptive to the therapy dogs. You’ll just have to read to your dog when you get back home.
Have you ever read aloud to a dog? Cat? Other non-human animal? We’d love to read about your experiences.
