This week, the world got the happy news that Laura and Bruce DeLaney, the co-0wners of Rediscovered Books, are opening a third bookstore! The DeLaneys started with Rediscovered Books on North 8th Street in Boise, which expanded in 2015. Then in 2018, they bought Rainbow Books, a used book store on State Street in Boise that was going to close, and renamed it Once and Future Books. Now they’re opening a third store, this time in Caldwell, ID, about half an hour from the original shop.
Shelf Awareness ran a story on the Caldwell store on August 5th. In it, Laura DeLaney explains the vision for the new store, in Caldwell’s Indian Creek neighborhood:
…the new bookstore “has been tailored to the west end of the Treasure Valley, with bilingual staff members and a large selection of Spanish-language books.”
Co-owner Laura DeLaney commented: “I think that part of having a conversation around books and having a place where you can create a connection–speaking the same language really helps. And there is a really significant Spanish-speaking population in Caldwell. That’s what the world looks like there. We’re not taking a cookie cutter and taking our store that’s in downtown Boise and landing it in downtown Caldwell.”
Congratulations, Rediscovered Books, and congratulations, Caldwell! We look forward to posting information about the grand opening.
