It’s midsummer and high time to celebrate the publication of a new thriller by Seattle writer Kevin O’Brien. While he ventured to Lopez Island for his last novel, They Won’t Be Hurt, many of the twists and turns of his new book, The Betrayed Wife, take place in Seattle, including a key scene at the Century Ballroom, just a few doors down from Elliott Bay Book Company, the site of tonight’s launch event.
The event for The Betrayed Wife will feature Kevin O’Brien in conversation with his friend and novelist Jennie Shortridge. Programming starts at 7:00 at Elliott Bay Book Company, 1521 10th Ave, Seattle.
Kevin O’Brien’s many books include Tell Me You’re Sorry, Hide Your Fear, You’ll Miss Me When I’m Gone and the classic, Only Son. He was a longtime board member of the Seattle7Writers and though Seattle7 has officially folded, their projects live on at the Hugo House and elsewhere. Jennie Shortridge was a co-founder of Seattle7Writers. Her most recent book is Love, Water, Memory.
Meanwhile, across the water at Island Books on Mercer Island, Kevin and Jennie’s friend and fellow Seattle7Writer Garth Stein has a party to celebrate the release of the movie cover for his bestselling novel, The Art of Racing in the Rain. Garth’s party is 6:00- 7:30 at Island Books, located at 3014 78th Ave SE, Mercer Island,WA.
