The Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association (PNBA) announced today that regional independent bookstores will offer an exclusive, in-store-only Independent Bookstore Day Limited Edition PNBA bookmark– printed on edible, sustainable smoked salmon leather.
These beautiful salmon leather bookmarks have a slight, classic fishy odor that will complement new-book smell. The PNBA and commemorative “IBD 2019” logos are printed in organic soy ink, so the entire bookmark makes a healthy, protein-rich, 100% organic snack for nibbles while you’re reading or a meal replacement (full bookmark) after you’ve finished your book.
Queen Anne Book Company bookseller Tegan Tigani says her customers are excited for the release of this unique collectible keepsake/ healthy treat. “We’ve told [Queen Anne Book Company customers] how beautiful and sturdy these bookmarks are, so folks are planning to stock up on extras for gifts, but some have also mentioned that they’ll be buying a lot to put in the books they’ll take hiking and camping this summer. One reader told me she’s going to ask at McCarthy & Scheiring [the neighborhood wine shop] for a wine pairing to go with it. They’s so tasty-smelling! We can’t wait to be able to sell these bookmarks and taste one ourselves.”
The bookmarks are an Independent Bookstore Day exclusive, sold only in Pacific Northwest independent bookstores, one day only. So be sure to visit your local independent bookstore (or several!) on Independent Bookstore Day, Saturday April 27, 2019.
I’ve been through a half dozen of these and keep losing my place, but my omega 3 levels are outstanding!
