Being as new to the Pacific Northwest as I am, I’ve been studying up on my local history. I’m glad that I put A Deadly Wind on my list (It doesn’t hurt that I’m also a fan of disaster narratives in general). Not just a well researched and well written account of this once in a century storm, A Deadly Wind also explores the political, social, and economic effects this storm had on not just the PNW, but the nation as a whole. All the more timely considering our current climate crisis and the rise in severe weather events in recent years. A must read for anyone interested in local history, weather, or disaster narratives!
