How did I not know about this until the last week of the month? August is Washington Wine Month, so there are tastings and promotions and sales all around Washington state.
Even though it came out in 2010, Essential Wines and Wineries of the Pacific Northwest is still a wonderful resource. Discover wineries and tasting rooms throughout the region. The book features profiles wineries throughout Washington, Oregon, British Columbia, and Idaho, and it lists wines to look for at each producer. There are beautiful photographs by Andrea Johnson and maps for plenty of inspiration, whether you’re planning a road trip or just a trip to the wine aisle at the supermarket.
Together with a bottle of wine from your favorite shop, it’s an impressive host/hostess gift.
