It’s not too soon to start planning forr Independent Bookstore Day, especially if you live in the Seattle area.
On Saturday April 30, indie bookstore around the country will celebrate the second annual Independent Bookstore Day. In Seattle, we’re building on the success of last year, with another Seattle Bookstore Day passport to local booksellers, and the opportunity for die-hard bookstore fans to win great prizes such as free books or $425 worth of gift certificates ($25 from each of the 17 stores!) by getting passport stamps at three or more stores, or to become Indie Champions by getting passports stamped at all 17 bookstores. Last year, 42 people made the grand circuit to earn their Indie Champion gold cards and 25% off at participating bookstores for a year!
Here’s a list of participating Seattle Bookstore Day (#SEAbookstoreday) stores:
Ada’s Technical Books, Book Larder, Eagle Harbor Books, Edmonds Bookshop, Elliott Bay Book Co., Fantagraphics Books, Island Books, Magnolia’s Bookstore, Mockingbird Books, Open Books, Phinney Books, Queen Anne Book Company, Seattle Mystery Bookstore, Secret Garden Books, and all locations of Liberty Bay Books, Third Place Books, and the University Book Store.
It took some route planning, strategy, and lots of energy and enthusiasm for folks to make it to all 17 stores last year, but I hear many are hoping to do it again. If you’re one, share your excitement on social media using the hashtag #SEAbookstoreday.
