Great news, booklovers! Remember the crowdsourcing campaign to help Kaci Aslamov purchase Paulina Springs Books’ Redmond location to open Herringbone Books? Well, it worked! The transition happened, and Herringbone Books opened on December 1. Below is an article from The Bulletin from December 8.
Paulina Springs Books in Redmond to remain open
New name, new owner for local bookshop
After help from crowdsourcing by the community, Kaci Aslamov has bought Paulina Springs Books in Redmond, renaming it Herringbone Books.
Although the she didn’t reach her fundraising goal of $25,000, “We made enough to make it work,” Aslamov said Tuesday. The campaign reached about half that amount through crowdsourcing, where community members donated money online.
About two weeks before the campaign ended on Nov. 23, $3,895 had been raised. By the end, the total reached $11,630, according to the crowdsourcing site Indiegogo. Aslamov took over the store in downtown Redmond Dec. 1
The former owners, siblings Brad Smith and Cynthia Claridge, put the Redmond location up for sale earlier this year. The two still own Paulina Springs Books in Sisters.
For now, Herringbone Books will continue with the same hours it had as Paulina Springs Books.
“We were impressed and appreciative of the way the community came together to help us out, that was the biggest thing,” Aslamov said.
