Annie Carl, owner of The Neverending Bookshop, a used book store in Bothell, WA, wanted to help brighten the holidays for kids at Seattle Children’s Hospital. She thought to collect books at her store to donate, but the hospital can only accept new books, not used. So Annie reached out.
Third Place Books in Lake Forest Park (where Annie worked as a bookseller before she opened her own used book store this fall) and Queen Anne Book Company in Seattle were happy to team up with The Neverending Bookshop to collect new books to donate.
Annie made beautiful gift tags for age ranges of children who could use a nice surprise: Infant- toddler, 5-8, 9-13, 14-18, and then she distributed the tags to the other shops. Each store created its own Literary Angel Tree for customers to choose tags and gift books, which Annie will deliver to Seattle Children’s Hospital before Christmas Eve.
Third Place made a large, lovely tree of books. Queen Anne Book Company refills a small wooden cut-out tree (complete with tiny lights) with the gift tags, and offers suggested titles for each age range in their display.
You can even donate from afar. If you’d like to purchase a book to be delivered to a sick child this holiday season, please call or shop online with Third Place or QABC by December 20. If you’d like to thank The Neverending Bookshop for initiating this generous partnership, please be sure to visit and shop there!
Brilliant collaboration, booksellers!
