Paste Magazine published a gallery of what they consider the 20 best book covers of 2015(so far). Among the covers honored are T. C. Boyle’s The Harder They Come (#2 in the slideshow), designed by Jim Tierney, and Stephanie Kallos’ Language Arts (#11), designed by Greta D. Sibley, illustrated by Anna and Elena Barbusso.
None of the designers featured are from our region (as far as I could tell), but looking at the designers’ portfolios is a delightful rabbit hole… Did you know that Peter Mendelsund, recognized here for his cover for Tom McCarthy’s Satin Island, also did the covers for The Buried Giant and The Bone Clocks? Jim Tierney designed the cover of PNBA Award Winner A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki and many other face-out favorites. Greta Sibley did the interior design and composition for Pema Chodron’s The Places That Scare You.
