Bookstores around the region and around the country are making big plans for May 2, 2015– the first Independent Bookstore Day.
Inspired by Record Store Day, this will be a national event to spur appreciation and support of independent bookstores. Publishers, authors, and illustrators have pitched in to create exclusive in-bookstores-only unique items for booklovers that will only be available in independent bookstores while supplies last, starting on May 2.
Some of my personal favorites include:

A Literary Map of the Seas print

A collection of essays by great authors, including the PNW’s own Jonathan Evison

The bunny from “Guess How Much I Love You” is a booklover, of course!
There’s so much more, including treats and parties at stores throughout the day, throughout the region. Ask your favorite bookstores what they’re doing, and make sure you carve out time to visit a bookstore– or two or five– on May 2.
