Talk about local pride, Portland! Not only are the actresses portraying Portland author Cheryl Strayed and her mother (Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern, respectively) nominated for their work in the movie-based-on-the-book, “Wild,” but Strayed is also going with a chic Pacific Northwest look for the red carpet.
On her facebook page, Strayed revealed that she will be wearing a gown designed by “the amazing Portland designer Michelle DeCourcy, whose kindness and generosity is matched only by her talent and smarts.” Although the actual gown has not been revealed, reports show sketches by the designer and hint at a stunning color.
Strayed will also be styled by a local Portland stylist, Scarlet Chamberlin.
Cheryl Strayed is a national and regional best-selling author for Wild, and she has also made a big smash in fashion this awards season, garnering recognition as half of one of Vanity Fair’s favorite couples of the Golden Globes.
Strayed proves that even though Pacific Northwesterners wear our fleece and hiking boots with gusto, glamour is alive and well in the region, too!
Best of luck to the ladies of “Wild.”
