I picked this up when I last visited Inklings Bookshop in Yakima (along with an armful of other wonderful books), but I finally got around to reading it on my recent trip to Brazil. What a perfect read for the trip! Ed and his friend Luke, experienced expeditioners, decided to travel the entire Amazon River— across South America, through Peru, Colombia, and Brazil — on foot. Then they set out to do it. It’s an incredible journey, told with detail and charisma. Ed is a crazy bloke— crazy, entertaining, brave, and honest. Now I really want to go out for a beer with him, except if we did, I worry about what kind of adventure he might talk me into.
