“This novel has humor, romance, a touch of suspense, but most of all love—love of books and bookish people and, really, all of humanity in its imperfect glory.”
—Eowyn Ivey, author of the Pacific Northwest Book Award-winning novel The Snow Child and author of this bookstore essay.
Buy the book about an indie bookstore from Ivey’s fave (she used to work there), Fireside Books, Palmer, AK or from one of the three NW stores at which Gabrielle Zevin will stop on April 7 and 8: Island Books, Mercer Island, 10:00 a.m., Monday; Eagle Harbor Book Co., Bainbridge Island, 12:00, Monday; Village Books, Bellingham, 7:00 p.m., Tuesday.
Comment on this post by April 10 and you will be entered to win a copy of The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry! NWBL will randomly draw names. The number of winners depends on how many review copies we can scare up around the office. Drop us a note; it’s easy.
10:00, Friday: This Just In! We’ve just received word from Zevin’s publisher that she is making 16 stops around the Puget Sound area April 7 – 9! Many of these are unpublicized events and will be small crowds—an amazing opportunity to meet, close-up, the hottest author making the indie rounds right now! See the map below and call your local store for details.
I love Gabrielle Zevin! “Elsewhere” is perennial hit with my library kids.
I´m so excited to read this book! And love the cover too .)
So looking forward to this book!
I’ve heard nothing but amazing reviews about this book! It’s on the top of my wishlist right now. Books about books? count me in. 🙂 I’ve also heard really good things about Gabrielle’s other books like Elsewhere and Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac. 🙂 Really hope to get the chance to win this! 😀
Looking so forward to reading this book! Thanks for the opportunity to win a copy! I can’t believe that as into books as I am that I haven’t heard of this author before, since the rest of her books sound so good as well. Hope to go see her read tomorrow night at EBB.
Looking forward to this title.
Great giveaway!
Read this book over the weekend despite being on a month-long ‘reading sabbatical.’ Wonderful! We sure wish Gabrielle would be willing to stop by our store, Book ‘N’ Brush during her PNW tour as her book may possibly the first one all of us booksellers named a top favorite!
I saw this at Elliott Bay last night, and almost bought it. May have to go back there and get it tonight! P.S. I love that you guys used a Washington State Ferries map for the bookstore map!
That map came from Zevin’s publisher, Algonquin Books. They leave no stone unturned! One of the best.
Congratulations to our Gabrielle Zevin NW tour contest winners who will each receive a copy of “The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry,” courtesy of Algonquin Books and NWBL.
Kyla Sweet is a librarian at the French American School of Puget Sound who says she is “really proud to have been able to purchase all of our English books at our local independent bookstore, Island Books on Mercer Island. They are fantastic, they help me so much and their selection is so great.”
Carmen Bendixen is a former Washington DC bookseller who now frequents Elliott Bay and University Book Store in Seattle as well as NWBL for “great book news from people who really know books!”
Thanks to all of our participants in this giveaway. Hope you’ll play again, next time.
