The Mummy lives! Or does it? Or is it something else that is pure evil? Read Lincoln Child’s book , The Third Gate, and weigh in.
This was my first venture into the world of Lincoln Child. I will be back. Child’s descriptions of place and action are outstanding. His characters are so-so but still interesting. I am generally not a fan of the paranormal but the history in the story was interesting enough to keep me reading.
A world-famous archaeologist hires a staff of experts so they can search for “The Tomb” of Pharaoh Narmer. This first Pharaoh unified Egypt 5000 years ago and his tomb had been discovered years ago. Or had it? The archaeologist believes, with good reason and proof positive, that there is a second tomb buried under the Sudd— a nasty, vicious swamp that actually exists and should be considered a character in this story. The team is under time constraints because the Sudd is about to be flooded from a dam that is being built across the Nile. And it is ahead of schedule. There is an unseen evil hampering the search as well. If you believe in Near Death Experiences, there is that aspect to the story, too.
I suggest that you read the book with all the lights on!
