Seattle’s Queen Anne Book Company opens today in the 1811 Queen Anne Avenue storefront vacated by the similarly named Queen Anne Books last October. That’s a lot of Queen Annes! The grand opening celebration will run from Friday, March 1 through Sunday, March 3, 9 am to 9 pm every day with a non-stop parade of authors, a while-supplies-last goody bag giveaway for all-comers on Friday morning and a Cat in the Hat craft giveaway for kids on Saturday. Throughout the three-day party, employees will also randomly give away book prizes and flash coupons “good for only one hour!”
Old store/new store Queen Anne bookseller Tegan Tigani reports that authors will appear under the banner ‘Authors in the House,’ “mingling and signing books rather than reading or presenting. There won’t be rows of chairs blocking anything, and roving authors (identified with name tags bearing an image of their latest book cover) will be available to meet and greet fans.”
See the schedule in the Queen Anne Review for a full author lineup, including Sherman Alexie, Erica Bauermeister, Jonathan Evison, Jim Lynch, Maria Semple, Jennie Shortridge, Matt Ruff and many, many others.
I wish I could be there to celebrate with you. So, so happy for you! Go forth and sell books!
