The regular literary variety program The Chuckanut Radio Hour celebrated six years on the air last month. And this announcement comes not from 1943, but from 2013. Live audience, corny emceeing, serial comedy, poetry interludes, live music and guest authors—this blast from the past has it all. As Shelf Awareness correspondent Robert Gray put it: “There’s a certain comfort to be drawn from noting the success of an old-fashioned radio variety program created and hosted by Chuck and Dee Robinson, owners of Village Books, Bellingham, Wash.” Read Gray’s Deeper Understanding column, “Broadcasting Local on the Chuckanut Radio Hour.”
