Thanks to Wendy Werris and Publishers Weekly, we learned that Moonraker Books in Langley, WA, on Whidbey Island, will celebrate its 40th anniversary Friday.
“I’ve loved every minute of it,” says store founder and owner Josh Hauser. “I brought absolutely no expertise with me when I opened the store, but being able to chat with people inside where it’s warm and dry instead of out on the sidewalk is what’s kept me going. That, and my love of books.”
Langley will honor one of its longest running businesses with a celebration at its Friday night market and street fair in the center of town June 15. Mayor Larry Kwarsick declared June 15 the official “Moonraker Day” in Langley.
There’s also a great story about the store in the town’s local paper, the South Whidbey Record.
