Earlier this week the winners of the 2012 Oregon Book Awards were announced at Portland’s Gerding Theater at the annual ceremony hosted by award sponsor Literary Arts. This year’s special presenter was Pulitzer prize and National Book Award winner Timothy Egan. Three of this year’s winners were prominently featured on NW Book Lovers in the past several months: Carl Adamshick, who won the Stafford/Hall Award for his collection Curses and Wishes, Patrick deWitt, winner of the Ken Kesey Award for fiction for The Sisters Brothers and Lidia Yuknavitch, who took home Reader’s Choice honors for her memoir, The Chronology of Water. Yuknavitch and deWitt were both winners of 2012 Pacific Northwest Book Awards, presented in January.
Publishers Weekly wrote a nice recap of the evening and you can take your pick from the lineup of eight winners, featured on a special page at Powells.com.
