Here’s a cool feature on the Seattle Public Library’s blog, Shelf Talk, where you tell them the last five books you enjoyed and a librarian offers suggestions for your next five reads. A recent reader said that he or she likes Ron Rash novels, The Living by Annie Dillard, Two Rivers by T. Greenwood, Peace Like a River by Leif Enger, The Last Town on Earth by Thomas Mullen, West of Here by Jonathan Evison and The Feast of Love by Charles Baxter. Hmmm, there’s a historical and pioneer theme here and lots of fine writing, but the real thread seems to be mist-shrouded book jacket images! We’d start by picking titles from PNBA’s Book Award archive, where you’ll certainly find more of all that criteria. Check out what the librarian suggested here.
