One Nightstand

The Chronology of Water by Lidia Yuknavitch

I read a lot of books but in the past year or so I noticed that I had slowed down. Way down. I read one book between the end of October and the end of December. One book! That . . . that’s never happened that I can remember. You could say that I was in a bit of a reading drought.

The end of December brought some interesting professional challenges and I found that I really needed to read a book. What book to pick? I had literally hundreds at the ready. How could I decide? Now that I needed to read . . . WANTED to read I couldn’t decide on a title.

I went to my most recent stash of books from the fall trade show and sitting on top was The Chronology of Water by Lidia Yuknivitch. I met Lidia at the show, she was one of the authors who sat at my table at the Author Feast and my curiosity was piqued. So, I picked up the book and did not move from the couch until I was finished.

Oh. My. God. What a book to dive into. Lidia’s story is compelling and impossible to put down. I was moved by her absolute raw emotion and storytelling. This is a memoir that you will never forget reading. Brava sweet Lidia, brava!
