We learned that this bestselling author (Shiver, the first book of her YA trilogy, was on The New York Times bestseller list for more than 25 weeks in hardcover) i
s also a bagpipe-playing, Camaro-owning, cake-baking mother of two who wrote more than 30 novels before getting published (and she's only 30!). Did we mention she was really nice?
Her new novel, The Scorpio Races, out this week from Scholastic, promises to have cross-appeal for lovers of YA, fantasy, horse stories, romance and action-adventure. Reviewers are using words like “dazzling,” “masterful” and “heartstopping.” We've got two signed hardcover copies and a paperback advance reading copy. We'll mail them to the first people we hear from who comment on this post. Oh, yeah, and we'll throw in her recipe for some November Cakes!

The Scorpio Races! Gah. I love The Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy, and I’ve been trying to get my hands on a copy of TSR for ages. I adore Maggie Stiefvater’s writing and characters.

I’ve been looking forward to reading Maggie Stiefvater’s new book, The Scorpio Races. I love what has been coming out in YA. Lot’s of diversity.
I’m so excited to read The Scorpio Races. I’ve been feeling so down lately I know I just need to get lost in a good book. Horse racing doesn’t seem like something I would normally be interested in, but I trust Maggie to take me away nonetheless.
